Staff mourns death of Sister Jacoba Rzegocki, FSE,
Assistant Finance Manager

Sister Jacoba Rzegocki, who worked in the Finance Office of Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care for 25 years, died on December 13, 2009. A special prayer service was held for the staff in the chapel of the Franciscan Sisters' Paul VI Center on Tuesday, December 15. The entire staff will miss Sister Jacoba and offers prayers and love to her Franciscan Community and her family.

Sister Jacoba was married to the late Walter Rzegocki prior to her entrance into the Franciscan Community in 1981. She is survived by her seven children, seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister and brother and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of her family, contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Mother Shaun Endowment Fund, c/o the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, 405 Allen Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451.

Sister Suzanne Gross
receives award

Sister Suzanne Gross, FSE, Administrator of Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, was selected as the recipient of the 2009 Excellence Achievement Award for Outstanding Public Service by the Connecticut Coalition to Improve End-of-Life Care. Mr. David Hunter, Chair of the Coalition, presented the award at the group's annual meeting on September 17, 2009 (see photo).

Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care
Lights the Way

(November 2, 2009) - Marie Laffin, RN, Clinical Director; Sister Suzanne Gross, FSE, Administrator; Darlene Dewey, RN, Hospice Director; Gini Sonstrom, RN, Hospice Nurse; and Christine Bolio, RN, Home Health Aide Supervisor, Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, Meriden, Connecticut, are photographed in front of the hospice memorial tree during the recently held Lighting the Way ceremony. A path and hospice tree are lit during November, National Home Care and Hospice Care Month, and again during the Christmas Season to remember those who have died. Over 50 people attended the ceremony.
